The BC Arts Council recently launched the Arts in Schools funding initiative for K-12 students across BC. Under this initiative, BC’s school districts will receive formula-based funding to support artist residencies, workshops, performances, and other opportunities that connect students with professional artists and arts experiences.
BC Live’s survey last fall highlighted how vital access to professional arts is to students, especially in rural and remote communities. We are pleased that our recommendations will expand access while creating work opportunities for professional artists dedicated to young audiences.
