With two important elections just around the corner—the local government election on October 17 and the provincial election on October 24—we want to highlight the critical role that arts, culture, and heritage play in shaping our communities and province.
Local Governments
Local governments are frontline champions for the arts. Your vote can support candidates who prioritize funding for local artists, cultural spaces, festivals, and heritage sites—vital to vibrant, connected communities. Vote on October 17. Information here.
Provincial Election
The Culture Builds B.C. campaign, led by the BC Coalition for Arts, Culture and Heritage (of which we are a proud supporter), is calling on all parties to commit to:
✦ Increased and inflation-indexed funding for the BC Arts Council
✦ Significant investments in cultural infrastructure
✦ Permanent support for fairs and festivals
✦ Development of a province-wide cultural strategy
Advance voting runs October 16–21, and final voting is October 24. Learn more about the campaign and access advocacy resources at this link.
